Hello Final 6!!!
Welcome to your Eleventh Judging Session
Another tough week but I must said to you that even the photo from the eliminated girl surpassed my expectation this week
Let's start our judging session
Amanda: I unfortunately don't really like this. The lighting is awkward, your mouth is strange, and it looks like a candid. We don't want candid. I do like your eyes and your hair looks nice, but... that's really it. We don't get to see just how beautiful you are. This... isn't it. Sorry :/
Émilie: This is very reminiscent to the sample of Amanda I posted. Haha. The minimalistic make up accentuates your eyes, and in a natural beauty shot, a little bit of make up is fine, as long as it's not obvious. However, the angle of your face is not a good one, and your mouth looks really uncomfortable.
This isn't a candid though, as Amanda suggests, it's obviously a natural, city/public shoot to put on your resume.
Amanda: Yeah, I do see the similarity, but the angle and shadowing don't work as well, nor does the facial expression. Mine also doesn't look this candid...
Yoona: I can see your effort here. Yes the angle wasn't great but you look very comfortable here. Different side of you.
Emma: I quite like this. I think the pose is daring and fierce, so I don't see what the others are talking about. I also quite like the hair here, it's a different style from what we've usually seen from you, so overall I'm very impressed.
Amanda: This is kind of... dopey. You don't exactly look that beautiful here. Natural yes, but I'm not completely sold on the face. I love the hair and the shirt is nice, but your expression isn't selling me. I want this to be memorable. I want to be mesmerized. I'm not. The only thing that stands out after your hair are your eyes - you're a damn good smizer, but we've seen that plenty. This isn't anything refreshing, but it will be enough to get you to next round
Émilie: I think this picture would've looked pretty amazing with a neutral expression. The smile adds a bit of tenseness to your face. It does show off your lovely cheekbones, and your jaw line, but there's just a bit of tenseness there that I think we could have done without.
Yoona: Very simple but still elegant. Your eyes were your strong feature as always. I love the styling here. Natural & fresh
Emma: The smile almost seems forced here, to me. The outfit is nice, and the hair is wonderful, but the facial expression doesn't do you any favours, and it really should when it's the focal point of the shoot. But this is a psychotically hard one, so I won't get too gripey about it. Overall, not bad.
Amanda: Wrong choice. This is easily the most boring, unmemorable photo of your samples. I look at this, I look away, and I don't remember it. You only look okay, too - you don't stand out as eye-poppingly gorgeous as you did in two of your other samples. It's weak, it's plain, it's unmemorable, and I don't see you showing off your beauty at all. You're covered up for the most part.
Sorry Nat, but this isn't good.
Émilie: I am inclined to heavily disagree with Amanda here. I love it! I think it is absolutely amazing! I think it showcases your cheekbones, your eyes, your brow, your jawline, every aspect of your face perfectly. I personally think this was the better choice out of your selection of photos. I find this very memorable.
Yoona: I'm on the fence this week for you Natalie, I think you manage to show us your best feature but I agree with Amanda. I'm not sure if I'm going to remember this, Natalie. Still a good photo though
Emma: Am I looking at the same photo as the rest of you?* I think this photo is gorgeous, and given how many of Natalie's shots that we've seen so far don't look like this, I'd say this is actually more memorable for being classic Natalie Portman as opposed to the "some girl that kind of looks like her a bit" pictures we've seen this cycle. I love the facial expression, and the hair is delightful. So there. *sticks tongue out*
*except Emilie
Amanda: You used another photo from this shoot in week three of this season. Although I'm happy you didn't go with that unnatural red hair, after the fiasco a couple rounds ago with you re-using a photoshoot, I can't let you any further than this. I do understand you had trouble, but you've relied too much on the same. You've become boring. You don't surprise us. Your recycling of photoshoots has grown old. As natural as this looks, it's more of the same yet again, it's something we've seen already. I'm sorry Rihanna, but you seem to have burned out
Émilie: You look beautiful and innocent here. The make up and styling may not have worked for the hair photoshoot, but it definitely works for this one. The picture shows off your beauty very well, and we know that you're a beautiful girl. I like how the eye make up accentuates your eye colour. I think this is a really good beauty shot, so I like it.
Yoona: Rihanna, What happened to you lately? This is a good photo but it wasn't definitely a 'jaw-dropping' one like you gave us when you got 3 straight callout. It's a very cute photo and your skin is flawless here.
Emma: I hate showing up late on these things, because I feel like I'm just kind of meekly walking through a boxing match going "'scuse me, pardon me, you guys carry on punching each other, I'll just slip past you, then..."
Anyway, reusing photoshoots isn't a cardinal sin as far as I'm concerned. It's not exciting, mind you, but in a shoot like this where you're lucky to find even one photo without makeup it seems pretty ridiculous to bash you. I think it's good. I like the hair, I like the pose, I like the facial expression.
Now carry on with your drama.
Amanda: This is from the same shoot as your avatar. Your avatar is better, and you should have used that instead (since it's legal to). I'm really not feeling your eyes at all here - it looks like you're leering, rather than smizing. Your face doesn't show off its natural contours too well, either - again, you look a lot better in your avatar than you do here. I do like your hair and the pose is good (and probably somewhat difficult to do). But I'm just not feeling your eyes here, and that's what you want the focal point to be. Sorry :/
Émilie: Shilpa, Shilpa, Shilpa... There's a picture of you as a buddhist nun that probably would have earned you first call out for this. I think the angle of your face is something we haven't really seen from you, and frankly, I really liking the angle. It shows off your lovely jawline, and brings a little definition into your cheeks. But I am inclined to agree with Amanda that you are not bringing the emotion into the eyes. Overall, the eyes bring it down, but it's still decent.
Yoona: Great pose and styling. But I think the one that I chose as avatar is better than this since it focus on your face more. However, this is still good for me.
Emma: The posing seems a bit awkward to me, but I like the facial expression, and the outfit is fantastic. The hair is also very well done, and overall you showcase your beauty quite nicely.
Amanda: I don't know about the hair covering your eyes here - for a "natural beauty" shot, we really do want to see them. It's an effect I do like with hair, but here it just seems... disconnecting.
That aside, this is fabulous! The pose is natural, your lips are inviting, and it's a simple, though quite young, photo. That bracelet is a bit distracting from your face though - it's a bit too dark. I do honestly like this, but I don't completely love it for all the reasons I said. I think you'll be moving on regardless
Émilie: I'm probably going to get a lot of crap for this from Amanda, but I don't like it. This is not a good angle for your face at all. I've had a browse of other photos from the set, and it's really just the angle of the face here, and in combination with the pose, it really takes a lot from the photo. There's no doubt you are wearing no make up here, and that's fine, but it's the angle and the pose that I really do not like at all.
Yoona: I like this photo. Masculine? Really, ya'll? I think it's very sweet, we can see you face very clearly here. No make-up and you look so pure. Good styling and very fresh. Those side bang is cute. I'm going to take a picture of myself with this pose and style.
Emma: I agree about the masculine thing. It's very reminiscent of a photo from a Battle Royale contest I was in this past September. Of a boy. Anyway, that aside, I think the posing and scenery are absolutely fantastic for this, and while the hair detracts from you a little bit, it's still quite good. Nicely done!
