Domestic Abuse



Domestic Abuse is a mortifying issue that unfortunately takes place in many places around the world. Many countries' governments have no law enforcement to prevent domestic abuse, and it's an issue that needs to be fixed immediately.

That was the original photo. I put in a lot of time and effort to create that bruise and change her expression ever so slightly. No, Taylor did not do this for me. I spent quite a few hours working on this and I'm proud of it. I put a lot of effort into this shoot, because I'm passionate about this issue and about this game. I'm here to win, and I hope you guys see that with this shoot.

Emma: I really like what you've done with this. The facial expression and the bruising work well together to make a strong statement without having to beat us over the head with it. The lighting is also fantastic. The only real critique I'd have for this is that a full body shot might have been nicer, but really it's strong enough that I don't mind. Great work!

Thanks Emma! I really wanted one that's more zoomed out as well, but I couldn't find anything that way from that shoot and I really liked that shoot for this theme.

Émilie: Frankly, if you hadn't've said anything, I would've had no idea that you edited this yourself. I think you make a black eye look like the in thing, and I can definitely see the point against domestic violence, it could even work as an ad against it. I think this is a fantastic beauty shot, and I think you look amazing.

Thanks Em! I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to mention that I had photoshopped it, but I ultimately decided I wanted to show my effort for the round.

Amanda: You're getting good at graphics. You gave yourself a black eye - I wouldn't have the guts to do that. You took a beauty shot and took away the beauty and made it painful. I actually like that it's zoomed in here - it shows the intensity of your face, that you are in pain from an abusive husband (or girlfriend, given Black Swan and all) and that you're trying to cope with it. I love it - this is easily one of your best.
